Waste Knot Illustration

A knot is tied in the end of the strand of fiber. The needle is then inserted from the top down on the canvas (refer above for placement of the knot within the design on the canvas) leaving a "tail" on the back side of the canvas. After you have stitched over the tail a sufficient number of times, you may clip the tail close to the last stitch. If you have an extra long tail, it is not necessary to stitch completely up to the point of the knot before cutting off the remainder of the tail.
