Stem Stitch
(Crewel Stitch, Stalk Stitch, South Kensington Stitch)
A variation of the Back Stitch, gives a spiral look.
It is actually the wrong side of the properly executed Back Stitch.
Made up of a series of single stitches which are worked in the "sewing" method.
Bring the needle back to the front at 1.
Insert needle at 2 and immediately slip needle up through 3 carefully to keep
thread below the needle's point. 3 now becomes 1 to repeat.
